MIT SHIP stands for “MIT Student Health Insurance Plan.” But MIT SHIP is not only for MIT students. The plan also covers many post-docs, fellows, visiting professors and lecturers, visiting scientists and scholars, and their families.
These community members are often called “affiliates.”
How to enroll in MIT SHIP as an affiliate
First, complete an enrollment form, then email it to affplan@med.mit.edu. An insurance office team member will process your form and email you a confirmation with additional information about the plan.
